Dr. Master attended Georgetown University for his undergraduate studies where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a concentration in Pre-Medicine. Following this, he attended medical school at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and graduated with honors in General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Master was then accepted into the prestigious Orthopaedic Surgery residency program at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
During his time in Cleveland, Dr. Master was awarded an Allen Research Fellowship which allowed him to spend an entire year devoted to clinical and basic science research. Dr. Master’s research focused on hand and upper extremity surgery as well as spine surgery. His research was funded by a grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, a division of the National Institute of Health. In addition, his research was presented at multiple national and international meetings with great success. Due to the quality of his research, he was awarded the Jacquelin Perry Award from the Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Association, the Mayfield Basic Science Award from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Barry Friedman Award from the Orthopaedic Research Laboratories.
During Dr. Master’s clinical training in Cleveland, he perfected surgical techniques in hand and upper extremity surgery. After completing residency, he accepted a fellowship position at the prestigious Stanford Hand and Upper Limb Fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. At Stanford, Dr. Master developed the skills to perform minimally invasive surgery throughout the hand and upper extremity. More specifically, he became a skilled wrist arthroscopist and he learned minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, carpometacarpal arthritis and wrist ligament injuries. Dr. Master also gained significant experience with the treatment of Dupuytren’s disease including the use of Xiaflex (collagenase) injections. Finally, Dr. Master has extensive experience with nerve transfers, tendon transfers, and pediatric hand surgery.
Following the completion of fellowship, Dr. Master joined Boulder Centre for Orthopedics, P.C. in Boulder, CO. He lives with his wife and children in Boulder, CO. In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, telemark skiing, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
